Unit 4 Reflections

Set of four reflection:
This is my set of four plates, I love the way the glaze turned out on these and I like how they are more of an organic shape rather than a clean perfect circle. I didn't really have a lot of inspiration for the set of four, I just picked out a slump mold I liked and rolled the slabs out and then trimmed them up a little bit once they were leather hard. For the glaze I chose the western glaze Robins egg blue speckled gloss, my inspiration for the glaze came from another students piece (I do not know the name) and they had also used that glaze and I really like it. I definitely would use a different slump mold next time. It started to chip away on my second plate and made the plates a little crooked but overall I am happy with the way they turned out.

Box with lid reflection:
For the construction of this piece I rolled out a slab and folded up the sides and smoothed the edges out. Then I used another slab and cut out the lid. then I put the rim o the lid with a coil. And for the heart on the lid I just shaped a heart and flattened it down and slip and scored it on. For the glaze I used the mayco glazes cotton tail and rosey posey. My inspiration was from a cup I saw on pinterest. I like how the glaze came out but I dont like the construction I wish it had cleaner edges and was more smooth

Bust project reflection:
for the construction of this piece I followed the step by step demo of the bust that was shown in class. for the facial features I used previous skills from our face sculptures in the first semester. I also looked at many
sculptures online of manly features to define certain parts of the face to make it look more 'masculine'. My inspiration for the flowers as the hair was just a random thought I had, I noticed when I tried to make normal hair out of a slab it looked like a lily pad and then I just played around with that idea and sketched out a plan for the whole sculpture and it ended up working out really well. The lilypads were cut out of a slab and the flowers were hand sculpted. For the glazes I really wanted to the skin tone to be very neutral and the pop of color to be on the flowers. I also didn't want this to look realistic and have realistic colors, that is why I went for the gray. I used Mayco glazes for this piece and I am very happy with how it turned out it is my favorite piece I have made all year

Master work of art 3d:
For the construction of this piece I rolled a slab and cut out the shape of the painting and then cut out the parts of the painting that pop up (the trees, stars, moon, and houses) out of another slab. I did that so it would be 3d and it also looked cool when I did that. I made some indents just to help with my planning for the glaze. And for the glaze I used mayco glazes blue yonder, sunkissed, orange a peel, tuxedo, cotton tail, lime light, forest green, and the darker blue glaze (I can't remember the name). My inspiration for this was the van gogh painting starry night. If I were to do this again I would use more white to replicate the white in the real painting
