Bow Mug:

This is a slab built mug with a slab/hand built bow. It is made from low fire white and glazed with the rosey posey mayco glaze. My inspiation for the construction of this piece came from a video I saw on pinterest. I glazed it this way because I knew I wanted a pink bow and I wanted to add more pink somewhere else on the piece so i decided to paint little pink flowers around it. Some challenges I faced with this piece was he bigger parts of the bow would droop down too low or fall off and getting the bow to hold its shape was very difficult. Overall I am very happy with the way this turned out, I think it's one of my best pieces this year construction wise.

Van Gogh Slab Vase:

This is a slab built vase with hand built flowers. The flowers are made from coils and hand built petals. This is a low fire piece with underglaze and clear glaze. The underglazes are avacado, saffron yellow, royal blue, royal purple, turquoise, and white. And then clear glaze. I was inspired by van gogh's iris painting. The construction I was inspired by my past slab vases I have made. I am very happy with this piece, the glazing came out very nice and I like the shape of it.

Flapjack octopus sculpture:

This is a pinch pot built sculpture made from low fire white. I used the mayco glazes orange a peel and tuxedo. My construction for this piece was inspired by my monster from last year. It was a pinch pot with a slab on the bottom and hand built tenticles and ears. I was also inspired by the stuffed animal at the Monterey bay aquarium. Some challenges I faced with this piece were making all the tenticles the same size, many of them were uneven and it was difficult to get them all the same. I do like how this came out, it was a gift for my mom and she really liked it.

Pomegranate:

This is a 612 hand built dish. I was inspired by this photo from pinterest. I took a piece of clay and carved out the inside parts. The glaze is white undergalze and flambe glaze. The glaze inspiration also came from the pinterest photo. My challenges with this piece was the glazing. I didn't know that Flambe was purple, I thought it would be more red. This was a gift for sophia and she really likes it and uses it for her jewelry.

Flower Platter:

This is a 612 piece glazed with artic blue and seafoam green glazes. This was inspired by my poem piece project. I had made a different piece for my poem but this one was more fitting to the poem. I focused on adding implements of natural beauty and uniqueness to it. . Some challenges I faced with this piece were having the petals stay up. They kept collapsing, which was very frustrating. Overall I was happy with how this came out.

Tulip Plate:

This is a 612 piece inspired by the photo below. My mom really liked this so I decided to make it for her to hold her jewelry on. I used white underglaze and mayco rosey. posey, green thumb, and cotton tail and then covered with clear glaze.  Some challenges I had with this piece was the white underglaze. It took lots of patience and I had to be very careful where I left it to dry to make sure nothing would smudge it. I am very happy with the the way this turned out.

Pomergranate Dish (Pt.2)

This is a 6112 piece that has white underglaze and mayco hot tamale. I wanted to recreate the dish I made for sophia, and I wanted it to look cleaner with a different glaze so I decided to use the mayco. The construction and inspiration was the same as the one I made for sophia. I am very happy with the way this one turned out. I like that it looks more realistic and more like what I was going for.

This is a hand sculpted piece made from 612 and glazed with the mayco glazes tuxedo, rawhide, hot tamale, orange-a-peel, and sunkissed. My inspiration to make this was from my aau coach, Annabelle, who was super insprational to me and asked me to make her a ceramic chicken as a joke, but then I actually made her one. I had some difficulty making the tail of the bigger bird and getting the inside carved because the clay had almost hardened too much. But overall I think it turned out okay and I can't wait to give it to her.

Cheetah Scultpure:

This is a 612 piece glazed with the mayco glazes butter me up, tuxedo, and java bean. This is a hand built sculpture and I used photos of cheetahs as reference. This was my most challenging project all year as it took a lot of patience and time to make sure it turned out good. The sculpting of it was the hardest part and esspecially the neck and head I had a lot of trouble with. I was inspired to make this piece in honor of my grandpa who passed last year. His name was peter and when I was just learning to talk I used to call him "cheetah" because I couldn't say his name right. That has been a running inside joke with my family for years and I made this for my grandma to show my appreciation for my grandpa

travel mug:

This is a 612 piece with the potters choice glaze. I was inspired by jayda who also made one like this. It is a slab built mug with a slab built lid on top. Some challenges I faced with. this piece was the smoothing out the inside of it. I had already attached the top part of it before I smoothed it out and I tried to go in with a sponge and had a lot of trouble getting the sponge out. But overall I think it turned out okay. I used this photo for refernce for the shape of it.

Organic Shape Vase:

This is a 612 piece glazed with potters choice obsidien and celedon artic bue. I had talked to Ms. T about what I should do about the glazing of this piece and she had showed me photos for refernce when using the obsidien. This was definitely an experimental project to see how the glaze would turn out and in all honesty I don't like it very much. If I were to do it again I think I would of done lighter colors. For the construction I built up the vase out of coils and smoothed them out and then added more coils the opposite way to create the swirly illusion effect. I was inspired by previous organic sculptures Ms. T has shown and our assistant teachers demo on making things that move when you spin them.
